On the 21 September the Head Teacher, chair of Governors and Governor representatives met with the Councils review board to discuss future of Gwernyfed High School. In the wake of the judicial review submission the local authority put the closure plan on the back burner.
Now it is "reviewing all options without prejudice". This means other options will be considered but so will closure. It is estimated that the process will take 12 to 15 months to complete. However, there is confusion about the kind of process to be followed!
The danger now is that the local authority will drag it out and parents lose heart and "vote with their feet"and pupil numbers dwindle allowing the County Council to act without consultation.
It would be very difficult to keep a petition going for 15 months so we will "pause" it and reactivate it as required but in the meantime we will download all the comments to give to the local authority the content of which should "rattle a few cages". Thank you for your support and I will try to keep you up to date with developments.
