Surgery plays a big part is someone life and cleft children go through multiple surgery's in there life. Each step changes what support they will need and vital services. Maddi need speech and OT after all surgeries, at 13 years old Maddi had to learn to walk again, because her bone graft surgery didn't go well and taking hip bone for her hard palate, this affected Maddi socially, emotionally and physically. Maddi would of benefited from physiology support, needing to learn how to eat again and speak comfortably in front of peers, where Maddi has admitted that she has been bullied and harassed by the way she looks, spoke to peers, them  not understanding or caring for her as a human. As a society we need to speak up and support children in being able to become capable adults in the community. These services in speech, OT and psychology will support children and families in dealing with these outcomes and challenges.  Each stories are different and we need to carter for all of them.
