Clear the illegal waste dump on the Kirkby–Prescot border now

The Issue

Knowsley residents are being failed. An illegal waste dump on the borders of Kirkby and Prescot, containing an estimated 30,000 tonnes of waste, continues to blight our community. Knowsley Labour councillors formally notified the Environment Agency on 3 December 2025, and while a stop notice was issued, the waste remains in place. This is not good enough.

Illegal dumping is a criminal act. It damages our environment, risks public health, and shows total disregard for local communities.

According to the Environment Agency, illegal waste sites pose significant risks, including pollution of water supplies and the release of hazardous substances into the atmosphere. The continued presence of such an enormous volume of waste threatens the health and well-being of local residents, wildlife, and the wider environment. Inaction is not an option.

The local authorities must take immediate and decisive action to clean up this site. Alongside environmental cleanup, those responsible for this offending illegal activity need to be held accountable to avoid future incidents.

We urge the Knowsley Council and the Environment Agency to prioritize the removal of waste and the prosecution of the perpetrators. This is crucial to protect public health, restore our local environment, and demonstrate respect and support for our community.

Our community deserves better. We call upon you to take action without delay to make Knowsley a safe and clean place once again.

Please sign this petition to demand that the illegal waste dump on the Kirkby–Prescot border is cleared immediately.
