A massive thank you to everyone who has so far signed and/or shared the petition. We really need to get as many to sign as we can as quickly as possible to make Berkeley Group stop what they are doing to the residents of Southall, and also some people in nearby Hayes, too. Last night I went to a packed Southall Green Ward Forum meeting at the Dominion Centre. It was great to see so many people there, and a true reflection, I think of the wonderful diversity of people who live in this unique place.It was also fantastic to hear so many people voice their concerns about the odour and pollution coming from Southall Waterside. There was a lot of anger, and rightly so, but also solidarity. We really are all in it together.It wasn't so great to be told by both the chair of the meeting Councillor Peter Mason, and Berkeley Group's hired public relations consultant Nicole Benford (from the laughably named 'Local Dialogue' company) tell us in no uncertain terms that nothing can or will be done to stop the pollution or the odour, despite our many and repeated requests for them to stop over more than a year.This is totally unacceptable and an insult.We know that Damian Leydon, CEO of Southall Waterside can stop harassing and attacking Southall residents if he chooses to. Damian, please STOP! As Peter Mason demanded of me last night, please be a good and respectful neighbour! Stop making Southall stink! Southall lives matter!Lastly, a ray of hope, once more.An article in a specialist environmental (subscription-only) publication called the ENDS report, says that Ealing Council Leader Julian Bell has called upon the Environment Agency to use its power to enforce effective odour control.Thanks for reading and/or watching and listening.
