Clean Up, Staff Accordingly & Provide better Security @ Tims 196 Cedar Street, Sudbury, ON
The Issue
Demand Tim Hortons Corporate Action:
We, the residents, customers, and community members of Sudbury, ON are demanding that Tim Hortons Corporate Office immediately intervene, clean up, staff accordingly & provide better security to the restaurant located at 196 Cedar Street, Downtown Sudbury.
Everyone in our community—including paying guests, the workers behind the counter, and neighborhood residents—deserves a clean, safe, and managed environment. Unfortunately, conditions at this specific Tim Hortons have been allowed to deteriorate to an unacceptable level due to a severe lack of corporate oversight, visible understaffing, and ineffective management.
We are calling attention to the following urgent issues:
Neglected Sanitation and Cleanliness: The restaurant interior is visibly unmaintained. Dirt and grime cover the order tills, counters are left uncleaned, and garbage and debris litter the floors. Local management has stated they "cannot keep up," which is a direct failure to meet basic public health and food safety standards.
Inadequate Support and Safety Management: There is a consistent lack of proactive de-escalation, customer support, or effective security presence in the lobby. Customers are regularly subjected to volatile situations, and staff are left overwhelmed. Management cannot simply ignore the indoor environment or deflect responsibility when patrons encounter unsafe or disruptive conditions inside the store.
Severe Understaffing: The location is visibly short-staffed. Employees are under immense pressure, running around frantically to manage a massive backlog of customers without the structural support needed to keep the store running smoothly, safely, and cleanly.
When these concerns were brought directly to local management, the response was entirely defensive. Management deflected all accountability, claiming there is "nothing else they can do" and attempting to shift the blame to third parties.
This is unacceptable. Tim Hortons cannot profit off our community while refusing to properly staff, clean, and support its own storefront. Shifting blame does not absolve this location of its legal and ethical duty to run a safe, orderly, and sanitary restaurant.
By signing this petition, we are demanding that Tim Hortons Corporate Office immediately:
Enforce Strict Food Safety & Cleanliness Standards: Mandate an immediate deep-clean of the facility and ensure staffing levels are sufficient to maintain daily health regulations.
Implement Compassionate, Professional Safety Measures: Provide trained personnel equipped to handle lobby dynamics, ensure a calm environment, and protect the physical boundaries and safety of everyone in the store.
Support the Frontline Staff: Provide the local team with the resources, hiring support, and management oversight necessary to safely run a high-traffic location.
