Eileen Quiring Needs to Resign

On Wednesday, June 24th, 2020, Eileen Quiring shockingly, disgustingly, declared, “I do not think systemic racism exists in this county. Period.”

Her words are out of touch, to say the least.

This county has hosted numerous Proud Boy rallies. A man on the Vancouver Education Board of Directors just suggested “Two Words. Fire hoses!” as a counter measure against Black Lives Matter supporters. Identity Evopra white supremacists have flown signs over highway overpasses stating “it’s okay to be white” and “white lives matter.” We have fired police deputies for openly supporting extremist, nationalist groups. 10 days ago a member of our community was filmed violently assaulting a Black Lives Matter supporter who never swung a single punch. He was assaulted by four menu wearing Proud Boys uniforms. One of the men was already on probation for assault from previous white nationalist rallies. There is a memorial park run by The Sons of Confederate Veterans which glorifies the confederate flag and Jefferson Davis beside our interstate.

Systemic racism is alive and well in Clark County. There is proof anywhere you choose to look.

We need a council chair who not only acknowledges that, but proposes action to combat it. Eileen Quiring needs to resign.
