Dear all, Believe it or not, in January 2018 Bulgaria will assume the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union. While in principle the rotating presidency provides an occasion for an EU Member State to promote policies it truly cares about, in practice it is an extended marketing campaign. But what can Bulgaria's government advertise? With the lowest GDP per capita in the EU, severely declining FDI, major problems with the lack of rule of law and abuse of human rights, and massive corruption, Bulgaria has managed to chase its own citizens away: sadly, there are more Bulgarians working outside of Bulgaria than in Bulgaria.
