Dear Kyran

We note the communication of 1 March 2022 sent to Cllr Kuhl confirming the revised delivery date of a new weedharvester for the end of June 2022, and that the Director of Fleet Services, Bevan Van Schoor undertakes to manage the contract and the progress thereof diligently. 

We also note that the council has allowed the service provider to delay delivery of the second weedharvester which was commissioned under this tender until sometime in the financial year 2022/23.

However, there has been no communication from council regarding the operating mandate the new harvester will have in terms of operating hours etc. despite the request made in the original Save The Zandvlei petition in April 2021.

We therefore request the operating log for the existing harvester for the last 5 years in order that we can compare it with the budget and operating schedule of the new weedharvester when it is finally released. This will enable the petitioners to assess and engage with the City over their future harvester operating plans which are so crucial to the well being of the vlei.
