Today, 28 October 2021, sewage is flowing freely into Zandvlei from the Sand River Canal.

The dire situation in many of the pump stations in the area has been exacerbated by the collapse of South Africa's power distribution system. We are having increased blackouts, and the pump stations can't cope, so the sewage just flows into the storm water systems and the rivers and canals.

All our failings are coming home to roost.
