The city has told a reporter that they will plan for coexistence in the future. You can read the article here: http://towncourier.com/city-relocates-adult-beavers/

It would be better for the City to have a written no-kill no-transport policy for beaver management which includes the building of beaver deceivers to protect stormwater drainage and protective fencing to preserve the mature trees. Together, this forms a permanent solution that satisfies the desires of all parties. 

We will need to fill the room with at least 10 people to demand a new written policy. I'll now close this petition and mark it as a success because of the newspaper article but realize, our work is not done until the policy is written down in black and white. 

And hey! even though the beavers were trucked and dumped elsewhere - I've heard and seen visual reports that a new beaver colony has already returned :-) While the city will neither confirm nor deny that this has occurred, this is likely the reason why they are finally seeing that coexistence is the only sane choice.
