Thanks to everyone who signed and shared this petition. We have 81 supporters, that's amazing. I am very happy to discover I am not alone in caring for our wildlife and; moreover, animals which have little voice apparently have a big one in you and me.

Beavers mate for life and the mating pair were relocated to the Seneca park without their juveniles. They were almost suffocated in traps that went underwater but the City says they were not harmed. Still, it's been going on 7 days and their juveniles are still in Gaithersburg (Kentlands). Last we heard from the city was:

"The remaining beavers are not baby kits, they appear to be young adults at this point. They have been spotted recently and appear to be doing well, so well they have been evading the trapping service."

Also, because beavers have a gestation of 100 days and generally give birth in May or June the mother is likely pregnant right now and without the lodge her colony built it makes it hard to give birth. If there are established beavers in the new location there will be fighting... but she has a fighting chance. To date, the City has not said anything about the state of health of the mating pair in their new location.

With every signup the city gets a new email message - let's keep the pressure on and hope for a lasting permanent solution moving forward. Thank you!
