Where are our cycle lanes?

It is now nearly a year since City of York council was awarded over £850,000 for active travel schemes but barely anything has changed. In particular we are livid that the cycle lanes along Bootham and Shipton Road have not been installed yet. There is a significant risk that the council will have to return this money and that this opportunity for improved walk/cycle routes is lost. That would be unforgivable.
Next Wednesday (16th June), on the eve of Clean Air Day, York Cycle Campaign is staging a mass protest ride at 5:30pm, starting from Clifton Green. We will also be sending a letter to the council to ask where our active travel schemes are.
Please come and join the ride. The more people that come, the more notice the council will take. You can find out more and sign up on our Eventbrite page.
