As part of the ongoing “Orange Avenue Overlay” project, the city of Winter Park is pursuing negotiations to purchase different properties on Fairbanks Avenue, including the long-standing arts venue, Austins' Coffee & Film, and convert the property into a parking lot. They believe this will help to reduce traffic in the area, but we all believe this is a short-term bandage to a bigger problem and will have a much larger negative impact on the Community. The city of Winter Park has an obligation to its citizens to maintain the heart and soul of Winter Park by supporting their community and culture. What the people of Winter Park have built together—a sense of home and culture—is what truly makes the city vibrant and successful. We ask that you sign our petition to advocate against the bulldozing of our community and to hold our elected officials accountable to the standard of representing its people and not themselves. We believe this to be the best thing not only for us but for the city of Winter Park.
