Vision for a safe, healthy and peaceful community gains momentum in Burnside Gorge

As BC Housing appears to be hesitant to share information in a timely manner on its plans to integrate the region’s vulnerable into our community, we recognize the need to expand and evolve the message of our petition.

A majority of our neighbours share experiences on the comments page of the petition and reach out in person and through social media to say municipal and provincial government actions, or lack of action, causes negative impacts across most of Victoria.

The Covid-19 pandemic allows unprecedented federal, provincial and municipal funding to care for our community’s vulnerable and at risk population. It appears that implementation is spur of the moment and flat footed.

As we move forward we need to ensure our community flourishes and is vibrant. We demand support for a safe, healthy and peaceful neighbourhood.

We need to ensure everyone – government, agencies, and neighbours respect and uphold that vision.
