BC Housing secures Four Hotels and Save-On-Foods Arena to house the Homeless

BC Housing has rented four hotels in Victoria to accommodate the Homeless from the Tent Cities at Topaz Park, the Pandora St Corridor, and Beacon Hill Park.

A temporary shelter to house 45 Homeless people has been formed at Save-On-Foods Arena.

The hotels with current four month leases are the Travelodge at 123 Gorge Rd East, Howard Johnson at 310 Gorge Rd East, the Comfort Inn and Suites on 3020 Blanshard St and Paul's Motor Inn at 1900 Douglas St.

Travelodge began evicting over two dozen tenants on April 30th. Neighbours of the hotel have noticed an increase in bike thefts, vehicle break ins, and tools being stolen from their sheds.

Wyndham Hotels owns both the Travelodge and the Howard Johnson. Several people have made efforts to speak with Wyndham Hotels either by calling the front desk at the Travelodge or the Wyndham Corporate Office. Wyndham Hotels have not returned phone calls.
