Thanks for all your actions in July! Here is an update.

Thanks to your responses to a record number of rezoning public hearings in July, a number of important issues have been postponed to this fall. These policies impact character house retention and neighbourhood character, and they are in conflict with neighbourhood-based planning.

1. Missing Middle Pilot Motion - Thanks to your efforts, this has been postponed to Wed. Sept.16, for larger MIRHPP towers & broad spot rezonings in RS/RT zones, city-wide. This pre-empts the Vancouver Plan and neighbourhood-based planning. This creates out of scale development without any neighbourhood context and puts character houses & heritage at more risk. 

  • Please send emails to Council to oppose this motion, even if it is only one line or as per above, before Wednesday Sept. 16 @ 9:00 am.

2. Spot rezoning apartments in transition zones city-wide, part of the rental incentive program, is back for public consultation. It includes all RS, RT and RM zones near arterials as specified.

3. New Petition on City-wide Rezonings covers policies that includes rezonings that impact heritage and character houses and neighbourhood character without context. This includes spot rezonings for towers and other out of scale development.
