Dear supporters,
Thank you for your continued support of this petition. Here is an update on the status of this proposed development plan. Wednesday, 9 June @ 6:00 pm is the next planning commission meeting. The planning commission will vote on the rezoning and general plan on 9 June. City staff is recommending (found at link below, under staff comments) the planning commission approve both and at the meeting planning commission members will cast their vote. Residents can speak at this meeting and we need your support and attendance at the 9 June planning commission meeting to voice your concerns. Please email the planning commission with your concerns (ann.burns@cityofspringboro.com) before 12:00 pm on 8 June and, most importantly, show up and speak at the meeting (6 pm on 9 June @ the city building by the Springboro Library). The meeting will be held in-person only - there is no virtual Zoom option.
From a broader perspective, the planning commission is the first step. The next step is city council, which is the final approval authority. We have the opportunity to voice our concerns at each meeting and via email. Let's stay united and continue to help the community convince the city to reduce the density and impact of this plan by participating in the meetings and emailing in your concerns. We can't do this without you and every voice and every action counts.
The developer has submitted an updated plan for the 9 June meeting, which can be found at the link below. There has been a small reduction in density - now at 519 single and multi-family units (252 are apartments) + 113 independent living, along with some changes to the layout, green space and roads. Please take a look. While some of the changes are moving in the right direction, the development is still far too dense! Our effort so far is causing some change, but not enough. Once the developer has formally presented this plan I will make note of these changes on the petition.
