HELP shape the Future of SSF by providing input that would affect us in our every day living on the decisions made for setting policies of land use. This meeting is the most important before it reaches City Council.

Voice concerns on zoning policies and how we envision SSF would be in the next 20 years with the addition of high rise buildings, office space buildings, impacts of additional traffic, air pollution, disturbance of natural habitat, and what services are currently lacking and needed for future population growth. Advocate for low priced housing for SSF residents ("affordable" may or may not be affordable to many employed outside of the biotech industry, "the driving force for housing").

During Tuesday's Community workshop, there was great news that our voices were taken into consideration for preservation of Old Town's historical value and concerns of gentrification. There was also assurances of maintaining Cypress park and Pine lots intact, and as it appears on maps, no further infiltration of high rise buildings within the Old Town area, except on the outskirts along Airport.

There is still time to voice concerns about further protecting land use in the Old Town area of SSF by attending today's meeting.

Although this meeting will focus on land use, it is an opportune moment to mention the lack of services, programs and equal opportunities for growth and education for residents that have been underserved for years.

  * Teen Center to provide educational and recreational opportunities

  * Community Center to serve as an informational & service hub for        Spanish speaking residents

* Art/Memorial Garden with Benches for Senior citizens and families of the youth who lost their lives in 2010 (Pine Lot)

* Upgrade Cypress Playground for families with infants and young children (infant swings, slides, play structures, full basketball court for teens)

* Upgrade Paradise Valley into a Teen Center year-round

Thank you for the continued advocacy of Old Town and it's surrounding neighborhoods along Railroad, Hillside, and Pecks Lot that are also affected by lack of services and programs.
