Log House Landing Update:
The Scandia City Council Meeting last Tuesday night was promising. The Council agreed to narrow the design to a 13’ wide single drive lane (half of what had been proposed last July.) Sadly, they also voted to pave the road and parking lane. However, for the first time there was discussion among the Council about the wisdom of changing this historic rustic road against the wishes of the community.
The room was packed with supporters and many people sent letters…it had an impact! The Council is listening. If you haven’t written an email yet, please do so. After the meeting, several Council members expressed a willingness to continue discussions.

Speak out now – tell the Council that you are committed to more a thoughtful option than pavement on this historic road and landing.
Let the Council know that you applaud their wise decision to keep the road narrow, but ask them to go further and consider a more natural surface than asphalt. This road should remain rustic – the gravel, the trees and the natural vegetation are all part of what makes this such a unique and special place. Asphalt, curb and gutter do not belong in this beautiful national park setting.
