Salina, Kansas commission has decided in a 5-0 vote without public vote to demolish the Tri Rivers Stadium and arena in order to build a state of the art $2.6 million dollar tennis complex.  The stadium is Salina’s only outdoor public arena for horse and agricultural events.  Events held at the arena draw crowds of people and contestants who bring revenue into Salina businesses and are more representative of the agriculturally rich local culture than a tennis court would be. Tri Rivers Stadium has been under utilized and could be utilized more often with a more progressive management to bring even more revenue to Salina.  Leave Tri Rivers Stadium alone and build tennis courts in place of some of the numerous tennis courts already present.  Salinans deserve to have a voice in how our tax dollars are spent.
