Richmond Citizens' Association (RCA)

Apr 28, 2018
On February 26th, 2018, Richmond Citizens submitted a petition of 5,500 signatures along with 700 comments to city council asking for a moratorium on building houses on ALR properties until a new bylaw has been passed.
Unfortunately, no decision has been rendered nor have they implemented a moratorium until such a decision takes place.
As it currently stands, the bylaw allows for 10,794 square foot homes to be built on some of the most fertile lands in British Columbia.
We will continue to fight this until council abides by the provincial recommended guidelines. There is no acceptable compromise on food security while mega-mansions are being built for the purposes of speculation, alleged illegal and/or non-farming activities on some of the best soil in British Columbia.
