There’s a few things that are weighing on my heart this morning. There are misconceptions I need to clear up. I need everyone to know that our council has always been very supportive of Public Safety and all departments for that matter. They also want the best for this community which is why they serve. I have had outstanding relationships with them and I consider each one of them friends. I am asking everyone to please do not attack them. That’s not what I want. I don’t want anything that divides or disrupts the Town of Prosper. I have given my all with lots of blood, sweat, and tears to Prosper and I only want the best for the Town, Prosper Fire Rescue along with the fine men and women that work there, and all of you. Yes, there were things I was asking for Public Safety that I think are necessary to be able to compete in this market in our immediate area. Those were still being discussed. Even with what I was asking for it would still be a very competitive and tough market. It’s supply & demand and the growth in our entire area is crazy with everyone hiring. There were some other disagreements outside of council that prompted my resignation so please don’t be upset with any of them. I wasn’t forced to resign and it caught most of them off guard. Please know you have an amazing council who want what’s right and they have a very difficult job to do as volunteers as our community is seeing unprecedented residential and commercial growth. This is an amazing Town with great employees and I am extremely proud of our accomplishments. I love Prosper Fire Rescue and this Town with all my heart. I just want to keep it that way and my life has been public safety so that’s what I advocate for. I also want the best in every department. Everyone works extremely hard for you. I want that as a Fire Chief and as a resident. I am still hopeful something can be worked out but only time will tell and there are no guarantees. I am humbled by the hundreds of calls, texts, posts, and emails for your support. I was blown away at the petition and the hundreds of hats. It means so much to me that you don’t want me to leave. I don’t want that either but some discussions still need to be had before I could consider rescinding my resignation. Even then, it does not mean it would be accepted. I know some of you are planning on showing up Tuesday at our council meeting. I can’t stop you from attending but I am asking if you do, please be respectful, with cool heads and love in your hearts. They don’t deserve any less. I know some plan on speaking either way but attacking them is not what I want and would be of no benefit. It would actually hurt me more emotionally if you did. I love you for your passion and I hope you love me for mine. My family has had a rough week and thank you for loving on them like you have me as well. It’s got me through this last week. God bless y’all and know I love being your Fire Chief. Despite the outcome, the Blasingame family will be just fine.
