Petition updateSave The Greyhound Hotel St Kilda from demolitionYour petition heard loud and clear. A small step win for now.

Last night the Port Phillip City Council heard all your voices loud and clear.
We had a first, yet tentative, step win. Council will apply to the Planning Minister for interim heritage overlay of the Greyhound Hotel. However, in light of the Minister denying an overlay to The London Hotel, our win is short term until this decision is made.
Council also (and finally) recognised that heritage is more than architectural significance (which we affirm the Greyhound is) but also social and cultural significance.
Council has now committed to progress an audit of all places in the municipality, with community, without existing heritage overlay (vulnerable to demolition and development) with a focus on social and cultural significance to the community. What will eventuate from this remains to be seen.
Without your voice, no action would have been taken and more than likely, more private demolition permits would have continued to slip past Council's nose.
Thank you for all the sharing, comments and support. It is sincerely appreciated.
The petition page will stay live to continue to provide you with updates.
