After completing a repair of water damage to the front of our Church building and replacing the rotten wood with Natural Stone and brick we have run into a hurdle.

The City of Mt. Holly has made us aware that Natural Stone is not an approved material for the Downtown footprint. Although we did not know that we were required to file and pay for a permit to get an approval, our church made a phone call to the city prior to the work being done. Since being made aware of the need for a permit, we have filed and been denied. The city has asked us to either appeal the decision or tear the new facade down.

We used the highest quality North Carolina stone and a very reputable masonry company to complete the work. We believe the new façade adds value to the downtown area and compliments the rich history of this city. Signing this petition will show your support for us to keep the building as it now stands with this beautiful stone and brick work. As a church we are diligent with all of the finances under our management and would hate to see thousands of dollars invested go to waste.
