On Friday November 13th 2015. There was an accident on westbound Whoop Up Drive in Lethbridge around 4 PM.
An accident occurred which later resulted in the death of the driver. This accident closed the westbound traveling on Whoop Up Drive, which is a well used road for many drivers wishing to travel from North and South Lethbridge across to the West Side of Lethbridge.
All traffic was diverted to the Highway 3 which already had traffic from being a Highway and north drivers destined for Picture Butte or anywhere outside of Lethbridge.
Once again another accident occurred causing the closure of Hwy 3 west bound. For any driver traveling to the west side or anywhere west of lethbridge.. Sorry you no cannot do so.
This happened a little after 4 and was not cleared up until about 6.
For any travelers it was easier to drive for an hour on back roads and through unknown territory to get around this traffic jam in Lethbridge.
This should not be the case. One or Two accidents should not halt the actions of the entire west bound flow of traffic for over 3 hours.
This is also not to mention any travelers caught in the traffic jam by accident.
This is another reason of why it is a good idea for Lethbridge to have another bridge located further south.
Thank you for reading and share this with your friends.
The petition has now closed but we have not failed in bringing this important idea to the minds of city counsel.
