There has been many pedestrian injuries and fatalities in Polk county, Kathleen area. My nephew Einlazer Gore was killed on 10/02/2021. He was fatally struck by a vehicle, obviously by someone driving distracted and driving too fast, as many cars do on 1st NW St. There are documented complaints to the city many years prior regarding this very dangerous road, yet the city and councilman Neil Combee, chose to ignore those complaints. One major factor on this busy road is that there is no safe walkways for pedestrians in this area, even though Kathleen Middle and Kathleen elementary schools are no less then 1.5 miles away. That means residents and students must risk themselves and walk in areas that could be hazardous to their lives. It is the city of Lakeland’s responsibility to keep our roadways safe. We want implemented on 1st NW St., speed bumps before and near the slow down flashing lights, near the intersection of Dove Meadow Ct. and 1st NW St., and a sidewalk on this entire street, so that are residents are safe. Please help us, we do not want another life to be taken unnecessarily, sign our petition today to make a change that will help save lives in the future and to honor my nephew who unfortunately, had his life cut too short at only 19 years old.
