Important status update on ACCESS TO PARK AVE BEACH / South Beach www.friendsofparkavebeach.com https://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends-of-the-Park-Avenue-Beach/662605257184365 Last fall you helped preserve public access to Park Avenue beach and the adjacent South boating beach on Lake Michigan in Highland Park, Illinois. WE’RE NOT DONE! We want to update you on the progress, status, and where we go from here. Briefly, the closing date was postponed for one year allowing normal beach and boating activity in 2015. The Park Avenue Task Force was formed to advise the Park District of Highland Park and the City of Highland Park on a feasible beach access plan, while the City ensures a secure water plant facility. The details, background, Task Force documents, public comments, and way forward are found on a new public web site www.friendsofparkavebeach.com and Facebook page dedicated to maintaining public access to all the facilities at Park Avenue Beach. The web site features a blog page where you can access related documents, read what others are saying, and submit comments for posting.
