In a recent article released on July 10, 2020, by the Elk Grove Citizen titled, ‘Mayor’s Associates Accused of Harassment,’ Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education Trustee of District 4, Bobbie Singh-Allen, described the Hmong clan system as a “controlling and intimidating system..."

Without a comprehensive understanding of the Hmong culture, Singh-Allen has emboldened racial attacks against the Hmong community during a time when racial tensions have skyrocketed and Asian Americans, in particular, are already experiencing a spike in hate crimes related to the global pandemic.

Singh-Allen continues to engage in social media content where she encourages and supports discriminatory and racially charged statements about the Hmong culture.

There is substantial evidence of her inability to create a safe and positive learning environment for the Hmong students of the Elk Grove Unified School District.  We are a diverse community, and the disunity in our district is impacting our most defenseless and vulnerable citizens. We no longer feel that our children are safe from discrimination while   remains a member of the school board.

We petition to have Bobbie Singh-Allen censured and resign from her position as Trustee with the Elk Grove Unified School District.
