Hi Everybody, We have a new MSP in the shape of Ruth Davidson, Leader of the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party. I have to say that I am a Labour Party man, but we really have a much better chance of defeating this mad cycle track with Ruth in place. For that reason alone, I almost put my cross in the box next to her name! Of all the candidates, she is the one most likely to take up the cudgel on our behalf. I urge you to write to her, congratulating her on her win, and reminding her that her first task as our newly-elected representative is to get on the phone to Sustrans and tell them they need to watch their step. If she can point out to them that it is Government money they seek to flush down the toilet, the greater the chance they might back out of this crazy Council scheme. Please point out to Ruth that we are coming up with our own, cost-effective, scheme that will help cyclists get to Haymarket and will put nobody out of business and may help reduce congestion through sensible traffic management. Ask her if she will study our scheme when it comes out in late May. Point out to her that our scheme, unlike the Council’s will have been consulted upon properly and will have the support of the local residents and businesses (you have my word on that!).
