Where the Council Code of Conduct Bylaw investigation stands

DCC Now (Delta Community Concerns) has spent the past several weeks documenting exactly what this petition is about: whether Delta Council completed the statutory reconsideration of its May 2023 decision not to adopt a Council Code of Conduct Bylaw, as required under section 113.2 of the Community Charter, before January 1, 2026.

We put the same written questions to Mayor George Harvie (Achieving for Delta), Delta First BC, One Delta(Dylan Kruger), and the City of Delta directly. Here's where each stands:

• Mayor Harvie(Achieving for Delta) confirmed the May 29, 2023 vote was unanimous, and stated he has no knowledge of any reconsideration being requested by Council members. He has stated he would ask Council to approve an enforceable Code of Conduct Bylaw immediately at the start of the new term if elected.
• Delta First BC, a new slate that was not on Council when the 2023 decision was made, confirmed it would bring in a Council Code of Conduct Bylaw within 90 days if elected.
• One Delta, under Dylan Kruger, confirmed general support for a formal Code of Conduct going forward. Despite being asked directly and repeatedly whether he's aware of any reconsideration of the 2023 decision, Mr. Kruger — who chaired that original meeting — has not yet given a clear answer.
• The City of Delta itself, asked the same questions directly, did not respond.

We've asked directly, more than once, whether any Council meeting between 2023 and January 1, 2026 actually reconsidered the decision not to adopt a Council Code of Conduct Bylaw — and if so, where that record is. We're still waiting for a clear answer.
