Update on closure of free RV dumping station at Churchill Park

Hi everyone,
First and foremost, thank you for your support in signing this petition. We're currently at 259 signatures.
After many phone calls we've learned that the City of Cambridge will have a Special Council Meeting on October 5th to discuss two options:
OPTION 1 – Closing the dumping station permanently
OPTION 2 – Upgrading and charging a fee to use the dumping station
We are submitting a request to speak at this meeting where we will propose:
OPTION 3 – If the City insists on charging a fee, we’re asking that they supply potable water to fill our tanks. This way you pay once for water and disposal as opposed to once at your home when you fill your water tank and again at the site when you empty your tanks.
OPTION 4 (PREFERRED OPTION) – Keeping it open and free. The City is already paid when you fill your water tank at home since you are charged at that time for sewage disposal. And if people come from out of town to use it, this actually brings revenue to Cambridge in the form of spending at restaurants, gas stations, etc. I’m pretty sure attracting tourists is a priority for any city. And again, let’s not forget that if the city begins charging, many residents will simply resort to dumping their tanks into the nearest catchbasin, bringing raw sewage directly into our rivers and streams.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Share the petition with your friends, family and networks to keep spreading the word. We’ve surpassed 100 signatures but every name helps. You can also contact the Ward 6 City Councillor Shannon Adshade (adshades@cambridge.ca) and the Manager of Wastewater, Jason Alexander (alexanderj@cambridge.ca) to share your thoughts. Thank you!
