Petition presented to Council, further action pending

Our petition was presented to Boroondara Council last evening 27th November at their meeting by Cr Victor Franco (pictured making the presentation), with 196 local sign-ups and a total of 500.
They followed their rules-based process of just referring it to officers for a response via email to the first person on the list, which will certainly be "not at this time" or similar.
There is the opportunity to bring a motion on it at the December meeting of Council, if a mover and seconder can be found. However, we are told by Council officers that it is too late for 2024, as Home Affairs has issued invitations already and booking have been made. It seems that this does not amount to an insurmountable barrier, but it reduces even further (if this were possible) the chances of a motion passing.
It seems like the best course of action is to keep the pressure up by having a motion before Council in December and following it up by another petition next year asking for a change for 2025.
Thanks again for your support for the petition. It will be kept open for the time being so that you can be informed of further developments.
