After our initial week, we're half way to 500! Please share the Safe Beltline petition with your friends on social media: Facebook, Nextdoor, Twitter and Instagram. We've added a new image of scooter riders: bit.ly/safe-beltline Six recommendations have been added to the petition to make eBike and eScooter use of the Beltline safer. These rules could be applied to sidewalks throughout Atlanta: 1. Riders shall use slow speeds when near pedestrians. 2. Riders are encourage to use their voice when approaching from behind, saying "on the left" or "on the right" to inform walkers of their approach. 3. Extremely quiet vehicles should add a low decibel sound to alert walkers. 4. Loud vehicles are not allowed. 5. Carbon burning vehicles are not allowed. 6. Vehicles wider than two seats are not allowed. Please attend the upcoming Beltline Rail Now meeting Wednesday from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, July 25 at the Georgian Terrace (659 Peachtree Street Northwest, Atlanta, Georgia 30308) to help advocate for MARTA to use current funds to complete the entire rail loop. As a next step, let's reach out to members of Atlanta's biking and skating associations. We'll be organizing a group ride to bring attention to the need to make eBikes and eScooters legal on the Beltline. Share your photos of electric vehicle riders enjoying the Beltline!
