Support for Serrano Group Proposal for Laemmle Theater at Azusa Block 36

Support for Serrano Group Proposal for Laemmle Theater at Azusa Block 36
The Issue
Azusa Residents - this petition is in support of the Serrano Group Proposal featuring a Laemmle theater development at Block 36 (Foothill and Azusa Ave) in the City of Azusa, CA.
- We do not believe a bowling alley is the best choice as the cornerstone development of downtown Azusa nor as the "face" of our City.
- We believe that the proposal by the Serrano Group will provide a distinct choice for entertainment and thus keep dollars in the City, is better economically and financially for the City and provide better, higher paying jobs for residents of Azusa. See the Serrano Group presentation here: http://www.ci.azusa.ca.us/DocumentCenter/View/33323
- Mayor Joe Rocha and Councilmembers Robert Gonzales and Edward Alvarez voted for the bowling alley proposal while Councilmembers Uriel Macias and Angel Carrillo supported the theater.
- Mayor Rocha said his vote was based on “loyalty and what ifs,” citing concerns raised by the owner of Citrus Crossing, a shopping center down the road that houses a 10-screen Regency Foothill Cinema.
- We are calling on Mayor Joe Rocha and Councilmembers Robert Gonzales and Edward Alvarez to listen to the voices of the people of the City of Azusa who favor the Laemmle Theater project and call for a re-vote on the Block 36 development.
Please join us in your support!
Thank you.
