Aggiornamento sulla petizioneStop the destruction of Alexandria's Chinquapin ParkTaylor Run update

We led tours of Taylor Run last weekend. Nearly 60 people signed up. The tours were led by a biologist (Rod Simmons), a geologist (Andrew Macdonald) and a local citizen activist (Russ Bailey) who has been working to raise awareness in the community about this issue. It's a lovely forested park with a lot of rare plants, wetlands, and a natural stream channel - which may have been altered a bit by stormwater runoff but retains many of its natural features and fascinating geological history. The City wants to bulldoze the stream valley all along the stream and fill in the channel with material to restore it, they say. This is not restoration, but deforestation and natural channel destruction.  Comments are due in to the City by Friday.
