On July 9th via social media the 3 county commissioners of Douglas County  Colorado; Abe Laydon District I, Roger Partridge District II and Lora Thomas District III announced their collective vote opt out of the considered recommendation of the Tri-County Health Department for all persons in public to wear face mask to ensure the continued safety of the citizens of the county.

Predicated on 415 phone calls to the county commissioners offices the 3 person commission voted not only to NOT comply with the reasonable and rational recommendations of the TriCounty Health Commission, but they compounded their egregious behavior by voting amongst themselves to leave the Tri-County Health Department.

The population of Douglas County as of 2019 was 351,154 persons.  The commissioners in social media expressed that was sufficient for them to say no and place everyone at a greater risk to become infected by COVID 19.  415 persons means that less than .0011% of the population was their mandate! 

In a message direct to some of us the true reason was detailed, to wit. "...each of the three Douglas County Commissioners made it clear to the Douglas County representatives they were INDIVIDUALLY opposed to a mandatory mask order.."

This was clearly partisan and personal.  Two of the commissioners are up for reelection in November but this one is not and should be removed.

Please endorse this effort to show them how many more citizens of Douglas County than 415 are prepared to take action to remove them.  If we secure sufficient support we will form a formal recall effort seeking Abe Laydon's formal removal from office.

Please make an effort to the candidates for Districts II and III in November all three sporting commissioners need to be replaced.
