Stop Industrial-Scale Solar on Rural Land: Preserve and Protect Historic Culpeper, VA

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,500!

Cricket Solar has applied for a special use permit to develop 1,800 acres of agricultural-zoned land in the historic district of Raccoon Ford in Culpeper, VA that would allow for installation of over 386,100 solar panels.  Prime farmland, woodlands, historic homes and resident property values are all threatened by this project. Wildlife and the environment would also be harmed, including the Rapidan River.  This project would be funded by tax-payer subsidies and huge corporate tax credits. The energy created by this project would NOT reduce electric rates in the county and very few local jobs would be created.  The project threatens Culpeper tourism which promotes its historic and agricultural heritage.
