Citizens for No Plane Noise O.C.

URGENT!
The U.S. Senate is moving assertively to pass the FAA Reauthorization either this week or next.
It is urgent that aviation-impacted communities either contact or re-contact your senators now and let them know how strongly you feel about ensuring that this legislation contains language to protect communities impacted by aviation noise and emissions.
Whether your senators support you on other political issues or not, this is non-partisan, and your senators have been elected to address all constituents’ concerns.
Our communities need all the support we can get from every end of the political spectrum.
PHONE CALLS ARE BEST. Explain that you are calling about the FAA Reauthorization: S. 1405.
FOLLOW UP BY EMAIL explaining how overflights are affecting you/your family, and mention specific noise-related amendments that you want your senators to support.
The attached document, Aviation Impacted Communities: Legislative Recommendations lists 8 very important issues requiring legislative attention that we believe all impacted communities support. It also contains a selected list of citations about the health impacts of aircraft noise and emissions, in case that is useful. Feel free to share the document or selected parts of it with your Senators, as you see fit.
We are also attaching four amendments that Maryland Senators Cardin and Van Hollen intend to introduce. We would be very grateful if you would ask your Senators to support these amendments.
1. The “Noise Dispersion” amendment would require dispersion of flights, higher altitudes, and research/implementation of technologies to improve safety in crowded airspace while also achieving dispersion and altitudes.
2. The “Subtitle E” amendment is a rollup of most of the noise-related amendments that passed in the House version of the bill in April.
3. The “21st Century Noise Measuring” amendment would require the adoption of updated noise measuring and assessment methods, including measuring and accounting for actual noise on the ground rather than just modeled noise.
4. The “Cumulative Impacts” amendment would require the FAA to calculate noise on a cumulative rather than average, single event or “per flight” basis.
Please also share any amendments that your senators intend to offer so that we can tell our elected officials to support those as well.
IT'S TIME TO MOBILIZE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE IN OUR COMMUNITIES TO MAKE CALLS.
