Citizen Opposition To Qatari Military Presence on United States Soil
The Issue
United States Citizens Express National Security Concerns over Qatari Military Presence on United States Soil
October 12, 2025
We the People, as citizens loyal to the United States of America and its Constitution, are concerned that threats to the national security of our country are potentially, if not likely, posed by the plan to allow Qatari Air Force activity on U.S. soil at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
Training for the F15-QA fighter jets purchased by Qatar through the Foreign Military Sales program in 2017 could better be carried out on Qatari soil rather than within the United States heartland. It is neither necessary nor desired, from the standpoint of United States national security, to construct and house Qatari military personnel, aircraft, and weapons at a United States airbase.
Qatar has been a financial backer of Hamas, providing a reported $1.8 billion since at least 2007. The U.S. Department of State designated Hamas a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 1997, and as such Hamas is subject to sanctions and restrictions. Middle Eastern loyalties are volatile and uncertain. U.S. soil must be safeguarded from any boil-over of Middle Eastern hostilities.
The Associated Press (AP) reports fatal consequences with similar training programs: “In 2019, a Saudi Air Force officer training at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida killed three U.S. service members and wounded several others in a mass shooting. After investigating, the U.S. sent home 21 Saudi military students after investigators said they had expressed jihadist or anti-American sentiments on social media…” The United States must not take that chance again.
The oath sworn by both military and legislative personnel of the United States includes the following statement: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” As citizens mindful of this oath, we believe our duty, as well, is to protect the United States from enemies foreign and domestic, and is the basis for this petition.
We respectfully request that you consider our concerns for the national security of our United States of America.
Thank you for your consideration.
