The Martin Mars have been officially retired
Aug 15, 2014 — It is with heavy heart that I write this update.
Wayne Coulson of the Coulson Group of companies has declared in his latest company newsletter (http://www.coulsongroup.com/newsletter/PDF/volume%2014-197.pdf) that both the Hawaii Mars and Phillipine Mars planes are now retired.
Every person who signed this petition knew that this day would come. Premier Clark had the chance to reverse her decision and she chose not to. So now we must say goodbye, prematurely, to what will undoubtably be known as two of the greatest aircraft ever built.
However, as a parting gift in support of the Martin Mars and in defence of their 54 years of service I wanted to leave with a rebuttal of the Government "Fact Sheet". I have been working on this for a while now, as I didn't have the time to rebut it before delivering the petition. I had decided not to bother, but reconsidered just for the sake of the honour of the planes. So you can download it below, for the record.
Thank you to everyone who tried so hard to delay this inevitable day.
Thank you Hawaii Mars and Phillipine Mars, you served this province with distinction.
