Dear Supporters,

Yesterday’s meeting with Senator Akilah Weber’s district representative left me shaken—but more determined than ever. When I pleaded for help getting my son treatment, he looked at me and said:

> "You're just one family."

That one sentence lit a fire in me. It made something crystal clear:

👉 We are not just one family.

👉 We are thousands.

👉 And we need to start yelling to be heard.

This is exactly why I created Christopher’s Law—a proposal to reform our broken mental health system so families can intervene before tragedy.

Right now, unless a loved one is an imminent danger to themselves or others, we are locked out. Families cannot get conservatorship on their own—we’ve tried, and the system shuts the door. We are told to wait… until our loved ones are arrested, hospitalized, or worse.

This is not compassion. It is cruelty masked as policy.

And yet, I was explaining anosognosia and the failures of the system to someone representing a state senator—and he didn’t even seem to know what I was talking about.

This is why we must speak louder, unite stronger, and refuse to be dismissed.

📣 I’m asking you to take 3 powerful actions today:

1. Call or email these two Senate offices and urge them to support Christopher’s Law and give families a voice in care decisions:

📍 Senator Steve Padilla’s Office

Roseanna Javier – District Representative

📞 (619) 409-7690

📧 [Rosanna.Javier@sen.ca.gov]

📍 Senator Akilah Weber’s Office

Jason Weisz – District Representative

📞 (619) 688-6700

📧 [Jason.Weisz@sen.ca.gov]

2. Share this petition with your friends, family, and mental health networks. We need everyone.

I feel this deeply. My son is not a throwaway. He is a human being who mattered before his illness—and still matters today.

We’re not backing down.

With you,

Christine Guess
