Thank you if you have already signed the parliamentary petition:

Why Rotherham needs an independent panel

Petition at the Council meeting on Wednesday 24 July 2019

For some strange reason the petition slot is missing from the webcast agenda from the Council meeting webcast ….

The petition stated:

“We need an independent panel, with the direct involvement of adult survivors of childhood exploitation and residents of Rotherham, to investigate the aftermath of intervention in Rotherham since October 2014.”

We hope the Leader of the Council will table this petition for all councillors to vote on.

Here are just some of the reasons why Rotherham needs an Independent Panel.

1       Everyone in Rotherham has been let down disastrously by those supposedly in authority.

2       There is no trust of any of the present institutions.

3       The Commissioners left without gaining the confidence of many adult survivors of CSE.

4       In fact the Commissioners destroyed the confidence of many adult survivors of CSE.

5       The Chief Executive has at times shown disdain for adult survivors of CSE.

6       The Leader has failed to act on his own words and to investigate "evidenced dishonesty" of officers.

7       The Council has totally failed to provide adequate resources for those directly affected by CSE.

8       Disgracefully, the Chief Executive has acted in a manner that has supported those who have tried to destroy an organisation that supports victims and survivors of CSE.

9       The Commissioning process for new resources for those directly affected by CSE has been deeply flawed with serious weaknesses since the Jay Report in August 2014.

10 The new Commissioning process is taking far too long.
