Chop Every Tree in Lutyens Zone Before Deforestation in Andaman Nicobar & Hasdeo Forest
The Issue
I am personally founder of the largest global plantation drive, tirelessly endeavoring towards a goal of planting 10 billion trees by 2030. We dedicate our lives to this mission, hoping to reverse the effects of climate change and fighting to save our Mother Earth, our home and the only planet we have. However, it is agonizing to witness the large-scale destruction being done and planned of our precious forests, specifically in the Andaman Nicobar Islands and the Hasdeo Forest.
Widespread logging in these areas not only disrupts the delicate ecosystem but it also contradicts our global efforts to plant more trees, diminish carbon footprints, and maintain ecological balance. According to the World Bank, forests store an estimated 296 gigatons of carbon in living biomass. Hence, these widespread deforestation activities are not only destroying the home of countless organisms but also intensifying risk factors of climate change.
In this crucial era of emphasis on sustainable practices, it is heartbreaking and frustrating to watch such environmental damage continue unchecked.
These lands are also homes to tribals, indigenous people, flora, fauna, local and migratory birds, animals. It's them who are the true owners of this thriving and that is at grave risk today because of the government.
Therefore, this is a petition to the authorities, to stop these unsustainable practices of large-scale forest cutting at Andaman Nicobar Islands and Hasdeo Forest. Let us protect and preserve these natural reserves and their unique biodiversity for the coming generations, maintaining the ecological balance essential for our collective survival.
But if government wishes to cut trees for any reason, let it first order to cut every last tree in Lutyens Delhi, before laying hands on a single tree in Andaman Nicobar Islands, the Hasdeo Forest and any other forest anywhere in India!
