The issue

Australians deserve a future worth believing in and someone prepared to fight for it. That’s why we want Senator Jordon Steele-John to be the next leader of the Australian Greens.

We need a young leader who can take on One Nation’s politics and sure that nobody in this country is treated like a second-class citizen ever, ever again. Someone prepared to challenge the major parties and the media establishment and insist that big corporations pay their fair share.

Jordon is 31, has been a Greens member since 16 and has served almost nine years in the Senate. He brings strong parliamentary experience and a powerful public voice to arguments about the future he will live through.

Disabled Australians know the work behind that voice. He fought alongside our community for a Disability Royal Commission, took that demand into Parliament and won, against all odds. He has worked across party lines to negotiate and is well respected amongst crossbenchers. His experience also extends to health, foreign affairs and other areas.

Having a disabled party leader would mean millions of Australians seeing a young person with lived experience of disability help set the national agenda. We believe his understanding of public policy, and his exceptional ability to explain it, would serve the whole country.

He has already earned support at the ballot box. In both 2019 and 2025, he received more personal below-the-line first preferences than any other WA Senate candidate, including the lead Labor and Liberal candidates.

We believe he can reach Australians who have never voted Greens. People want affordable homes, health and disability care, and someone willing to speak up for every Australian, no matter who they are.

To Greens MPs: please elect Senator Jordon Steele-John as your next leader. He brings with him a community that the Greens alone have never reached, and we believe he can bring transformative change to our nation. This is an exceptional opportunity to prove that you believe in young people, disabled people and to do something that no party has ever done before.

It's time for change.

To everyone reading: please sign this petition and share it tonight and tomorrow! You do not have to agree with every Greens policy to want a stronger voice fighting for ordinary Australians.

He has the experience. Give him the opportunity.

If not now, when?
