The city of North Miami Beach is proposing to go with higher millage rate of 6.2 rather than the roll back millage rate recommended by the Miami Dade County Appraiser Pedro Garcia of 5.6114.  In the city and county we have had a strong real estate market with property values soaring meaning more revenues for the city.  This also means big increases in taxes to homeowners.  We believe the city of North Miami Beach should follow the county recommended roll back rate of 5.6114 instead of the city recommended 6.2 millage rate.  This is a percentage difference of approximately 10.5%.  In today’s economy with record high inflation, residents are hurting and would benefit with a smaller tax burden.  Choose the county recommended roll back rate over the city recommended rate.
