Children’s Empowerment Act (DEAT) SELF Defense to End Abuse,Trafficking

Children’s Empowerment Act (DEAT) SELF Defense to End Abuse,Trafficking
The Issue
If you would take a few minutes of your time to sign my non profit proposal so that I can present it to the California state board of education. You do NOT have to live in California to sign it!
I am proposing for our schools to take some action in training our kids on how to PROTECT and DEFEND themselves and each other in an emergency situation. I have a potential plan set up below.
In the meantime, we wait for the day these horrifying criminals will spend their life behind bars for these crimes on humanity especially on our children!
Did you know that California has the highest rate of sex trafficking in the United States? Devastatingly, in the US alone, sex trafficking is a $150 Billion dollar industry!!!! Currently, there are two foundations known as “Blue Campaign” and “Operation Underground Railroad” who are doing their part to raise funds for those who have been abused and are battling the aftermath effects of the assault. But as sex trafficking rates are rising these foundations, charities and foster homes are growing to their maximum capacity!
WE NEED TO PUSH PREVENTION!!
My biggest question to you-How is our public school system (as a state, a country, and a city) being excused from implementing a defensive course for students?
The public school system could easily offer a FREE SELF DEFENSE course during school hours which would be required for students in replacement of PE and health class for 5 days per semester only! It would not take away from class time. This would ensure children/teens can effectively defend themselves in ANY emergency situation. We cannot rely on parents because there may not be any responsible parent or those on their life unfortunately may be a part of the problem. Sex trafficking rates as well as abuse are sky rocketing so this is just as important as other safety protocols used by schools such as fire drills, earthquake drills, etc..
Trafficking is a global issue but much of the abuse starts locally on school playgrounds, at malls, amusement parks, local hangouts, online, and many times in the home yet there has never seemed to be any sense of urgency by educators to try and make some changes!!!
BUT YOU CAN STAND WITH ME TODAY …SO WE CAN TRY AND CHANGE THAT……..HERE IS MY PLAN!
I have created a plan that I truly believe if implemented properly by our school system could SAVE A LIFE! As we spend thousands in tax dollars for a reliable education for our children -their safety should also be one of THE TOP priorities and commitments of the school and community. In my mind, knowing the statistics -they are NOT doing their job.
SO…….I created a method for schools to use in which we can protect, AND prevent with a goal to also EMPOWER ALL children especially those children who may be more vulnerable and susceptible. I came up with “The R method” that could be easily and effectively taught in schools by a few certified self defense instructors and mental health coaches for all students. Let me explain how it would work…
My proposal will start with the California Board of education where I will propose a trial period with one to two schools in a district with the highest interest.
This program could start by implementing a short course to educate them on how to quickly and effectively RECOGNIZE, REACT, and RESPOND. The methods being easy to learn and apply. I would propose a one week course (per semester) upon parental consent (wavier) which would replace health or PE class for all students that week only. No class time would be lost and if accepted would become a part of the schools curriculum. The children would be assessed at the end of the week to ensure they could use their new skills effectively and confidently! I believe the universal hand signals and motions (that all children will recognize amongst their peers) which will include specific movements, crouching, basic techniques and tactics will also defend and empower! Our kids deserve to have these tools.
Together, we can be smarter using more of these preventative techniques to protect our children and communities from MORE trafficking, abuse, predators, rape, unwanted pregnancy, bullying, drug use, suicide, repeated crime, and all the aftermath rather than if we sit back and don't ACT! Nothing is guaranteed but if we don’t stand for them, who will? Sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference! NOTHING IS WASTED…..
Thank you for your time.
Blessings,
Lorraine
