Schools alone cannot end bullying; parental involvement is crucial. Many parents dismiss their child's bullying with excuses like "my kid would never say that" or "boys will be boys" “oh my kid doesn’t understand what he’s saying” “my kid wouldn’t be hurt by that” “my kid is learning empathy” AT THE EXPENSE OF THE MASSES??????? No, go learn that on your OWN time, in your OWN safe place! STOP making school feel unsafe to those that are there to merely LEARN. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 offenses later students who bully are STILL in sports with the very peers they bully. They are STILL sitting at the same lunch table with the peers they bully. Sitting in class with THE VERY PEERS THEY BULLY!!!! How would that make you feel as the bullied???????????

Without follow-up at home, bullies return to school and repeat their behavior. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 20% of students report being bullied. We need policies that hold parents accountable to ensure a safer environment for all children. 

Off school grounds, I have also HEARD a first hand account from a 4th grader; REDACTED has been being bullied for years at this school. REDACTED stated, after being asked, “what does your mother say?” “Oh, that she cannot hold my hand through everything”. My heart BROKE!

I guarantee you Dracens family WISHES they could hold his hand again and feel a squeeze! Could you imagine telling your baby that???? Let REDACTED walk alone while FEELING all alone. How dare you!!!

FYI: Do not tell your child loudly (because he cannot hear you) in the school parking lot “I want to stop bullying” X2. You will have someone run into the school to tell on you and say “Amanda is in the parking lot causing a ruckus”.

Sir/ma’am,  I am a grown 37 year old woman. I am not causing a ruckus. I know how to handle myself in a school setting. I am appalled at even the implication of doing such a thing.  I merely said “I want to stop bullying”.  Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT ask for bullying to stop in a voice louder than you can use in a library, at the school, in the parking lot. I mean, I’m still in shock. Yes, it’s a sensitive subject but THAT’S WHY I’M HERE TYPING THIS RIGHT NOW. Police??? You had to involve the police???? Because I said I WANT TO STOP BULLYING??? Miscommunication or not; the person who ran in to tell, I just have this to say; There is a child, 11 years old in the ICU on life support with more tubes coming out of his body then you could probably count. A student in that school told him to go home and kill himself! YOU, YOU ARE ALSO THE PROBLEM!!!!!
