Child-Sized Toilets in All NYC Public Restrooms

Child-Sized Toilets in All NYC Public Restrooms
The Issue
My 3-year-old son is potty trained — but New York City’s public bathrooms are not ready for him. Every park, school museum, and library we visit has only adult-sized toilets. I have to hold him over the fixture. It’s unsafe. It’s embarrassing for him. And it undermines the independence he’s worked so hard to build.
Licensed NYC childcare centers are already required by law to have child-sized toilets. Our public parks, schools, museums and libraries should be held to the same standard.
We are asking the City of New York to require at least one child-sized toilet in every public park, school, museum and library restroom in NYC — a change that costs as little as $300–$600 per unit and would make a real difference for hundreds of thousands of families.
