Sometimes in life the road seems impossible but, then you meet a few thousand friends who have your back! Thank you all for your amazing continued support of K-9 Abal and our family!
So much has happened in the last few days. It’s hard to know where to begin. Yesterday we received a letter dated 4/5/2018, from Sen. Sweeney which he sent to Chief Nestel. Before I posted the letter, I wanted to make certain that it was okay to do so. Sen. Sweeney’s office contacted me today. Not only could I share the letter but that I have their full support!
A news article was also published yesterday. http://www.philly.com/philly/columnists/stu_bykofsky/stu-bykofsky-septa-k9-richard-galanti-abal-shepherd-20180409.html
In the article, we discovered what may be the cause of my husband's sudden transfer and K-9 Abal’s removal from the only home he’s ever known. In the article as well as in a press release from The Fraternal Order of Transit Police 109, the belief is that it is Retaliation. They believe it is from a grievance filed by my husband for reimbursement of a jacket costing $150.00.

We also discovered in the above article, that Congressman Bob Brady volunteered to raise funds for a new dog allowing Abal to come home.
Several K-9 organizations have reached out to the Chief and us
offering K-9’s. There has been an amazing outpouring of support from so many, including but not limited to The National Police Association. We are humbled.
We still haven’t heard anything from Chief Nestel, Mr. Knueppel, the SEPTA board or Governor Tom Wolf.
We will continue to fight to bring Abal home. My heart breaks for him. We miss him dearly as I’m sure he is confused and missing us. Thank you all for everything! Please keep calling, emailing, and writing letters! We can’t do this without all of you!
