200 plus Lives Waiting on Tomorrow's Meal - Nandi Sewa Trust

Male calves are abandoned within days of birth because they'll never give milk.

Bulls are turned loose once they're no longer needed for work. Old and "dry" cows — those who've stopped producing milk after years of service — are pushed onto the streets. Add to this the animals hit by vehicles, injured, sick, or too weak to survive alone, and you have hundreds of animals with nowhere to go and no one legally responsible for them. It isn't only cows, either — our team has pulled buffaloes out of the same drains and canals, and treated them the same way.
Nandi Seva Trust is a gaushala in Noida that takes in exactly these animals — the ones nobody else wants. Today we are home to 200+ rescued cattle, including 20+ small calves (mostly abandoned male calves), along with bulls and old or "dry" cows who arrived sick, injured, or abandoned. Every animal is rescued, fed, treated, and given a permanent home for life — not a shelter they'll be moved out of once they recover. And when an animal is healthy enough to go back to its own street and its own people, we do that too — treat first, then let them go home if home is where they belong.

Every single day, somewhere in Noida, a cow is left to die — dumped in a drain, abandoned on a highway, or turned out to fend for itself because it stopped being "useful." Our team pulls at least one animal like this out of a canal or drain every day, day or night. Most people walk past. We don't.
One of our night rescues happened well after midnight — a JCB, a rope, and a team wading into black water because a call had come in and someone had to go. That's not the exception here. That's most weeks.
